 Не успели любители прог-пауэра оплакать Shaman, как было объявлено о его возрождении. Рикардо Конфессори здраво рассудил, что негоже бросать хорошо раскрученный бренд, и в результате под старым названием мы получили совершенно новую группу. Нет, радикальной смены стиля не произошло, это всё тот же пауэр с прогрессивными элементами, но на первые два альбома коллектива он мало похож (ведь композиторский почерк Андре Матоса повторить очень трудно). В этом, наверное, и заключается главная проблема "Immortal": отдельные песни очень хороши, но плохо вяжутся между собой и не создают цельной картины.
Агрессивное начало ("Inside Chains", "Tribal by Blood") на экваторе альбома сменяется атмосферными "шаманскими" песнями: заглавная - в мид-темпе, с гипнотизирующей партией ударных, "One Life" - стремительная, с акустическим интро. "In the Dark" - традиционная, но красивая баллада. "Strength", "Freedom", "Never Yield" - более традиционный хэви-павер, и чем дальше, тем скучнее. "The Yellow Brick Road" - полностью акустическая баллада с народными мотивами.
От сравнений с прошлым группы всё равно не уйти, и гитарная составляющая мне показалась куда менее разнообразной и красивой. Вокал Thiago Bianchi, напротив, заслушивает похвалы: он варьируется от чистых высоких нот до практически харша.
В целом, альбом даже превзошёл ожидания, не думала, что новый состав Shaman создаст такую сильную работу. Надеюсь, что путь группы на этом не закончится. |
