 «Повторенье – мать ученья» - вспомнили старинную истину итальянцы Elvenking и свой новый альбом “Wyrd” соорудили точь-в-точь по образу и подобию дебютника “Heathenreel” (2001). Альбом все так же открывает стилизованно-средневековая мелодия в духе Blackmore’s Night, а на остальном его пространстве все так же господствует первоклассный фолк-метал с мощными гитарными риффами, смешанным вокалом с эпизодическими вкраплениями скриминга и гроулинга. Даже смена вокалиста практически незаметна – новичок Клейд без труда воспроизводит стиль пения предыдущего певца Дамнагораса. Но это вовсе не значит, что альбом неинтересен, наоборот, он вышел довольно сильным и ровным. Настолько ровным, что это даже пошло ему во вред – временами он стал казаться однообразным. Но даже несмотря на то, что немного разнообразия пошли бы “Wyrd” только на пользу, рискну сказать, что диск Elvenking будет посильнее, чем последние работы апологетов жанра – Skyclad, а вот это уже говорит о многом. Что ж, будем считать, что “Wyrd” – лишь повторение и закрепление пройденного, и что в будущем итальянцы не будут бояться экспериментировать со своей музыкой.
