Tengger Cavalry was initially formed as a one-man project in 2009 by Nature Ganganbaigal, who had been taught by Mongolian musicians for years. In September 2010, their first demo album got reviewed by German magazine Legacy.
In December of 2011, MTV published an article regarding Tengger Cavalry’s unique music style. At the same time, China National Radio gave high praise for the band’s music. The success brought the music to stage. The Horse-head Fiddle (Morin Khuur) player Xin Wang, whose teacher was the famous Horse-head Fiddle player He Xige, joined in the band at the beginning of 2012, after which drummer Kai Ding, Dombra player Mural and bassist Wei Wang were enrolled in.
In the December 2012, Tengger Cavalry signed with American independent heavy metal label Metal Hell Records and released its first album Sunesu Cavalry in US & EU region. The debut album received positive feedback from the renowned heavy metal magazine Metal Hammer. At the same time, British extreme metal magazine Terrorizer did an interview with the band.
In February of 2013 Tengger Cavalry released its newest album Black Steed in China. Months later Metal Hell Records released the second album of Tengger Cavalry, The Expedition. The second album has reached greater international recognition: British Terrorizer, Belgium Rock Tribune, Italian Metal Italia and other metal blogs started to pay more attention to the band.
In April of 2013 Tengger Cavalry attended the Wacken Metal Battle Competition in China and won The Best Composing Award. In May 22, Tengger Cavalry did the opening show for the Finnish metal act Turisas in Beijing, which gained high acclaim from Turisas.
In 2014 Tengger Cavalry released its new album Ancient Call, with Nature being the main songwriter and fiddle player Xin Wang as the co-writer. Ancient Call becomes the band’s best-selling album in 2014, which received numerous reviews from more than sixty online media, including the renowned MTV and Metal Hammer.
After one-year’s silence, the 2010 demo album of Tengger Cavalry has been fully re-arranged and re-recorded with radical new instrumentation, arrangement and production. The re-release album Blood Sacrifice Shaman received even greater recognition than Ancient Call.
