 Данную группу считают одной из тех, кто сильно подражает Dream Theater, при этом находится в Германии (в этом плане её можно сравнить с Vanden Plas, Poverty's No Crime и Ivanhoe). Конечно же, многие каноны прогрессива в дебютном альбоме этой доичбанды соблюдены, пусть и нет заковыристых ходов и виртуозности "Театралов", зато есть настроение, нерв, которого так часто не хватает современному прогрессиву. И его делает не только надрывный, но при этом чистый высокий вокал, исполненный в старых добрых традициях хард-н-хэви с вполне мясными гитарами и слегка задранной ритм-секцией, но и какая-то прямо пронзающая мелодичность, которая вкупе с формой и клавишным оформлением создает ощущение присутствия в фильме с лихо закрученным сюжетом, но в настроении которого полно всё равно какой-то безысходности, невозможности изменить ни давящую своими табу и обстоятельствами действительность, ни отношение к ней. Так и начинается альбом - композиция "Truth Ain't Kind" прямо одёргивает тебя своими риффами, в то время как фортепиано придаёт этому некое художественное благородство, так и заканчивается - в композиции "Until the End" то же фортепиано, но которое теперь выражает чувство какой-то невосполнимой потери, а уж вокальная мелодия его подчёркивает. Вообще, весь он с начала до конца как будто бы на одном дыхании - без лейтмотивной системы (последняя была в "Awake" у "Театралов" за год до этого), но с композициями, которые атакой, без паузы, переходят одна в другую. Ощущение присутствия в каком-то сюжете показывают и звуковые эффекты - в композиции "Dial 911" звуком полицейской сирены с вертолётом, в упомянутой выше самой последней - ветром с дождём.
В любом случае, это очень запоминающийся, яркий альбом, тем более, для дебюта, и как-то обидно, что группа незаслуженно забыта, и ничего не слышно об её участниках в настоящее время. |
