 Так уж вышло, что в дискографии у этих ребят числится не так уж и много альбомов (4 полноформатных релиза), да и к тому же почти все они, грубо говоря, "на любителя" (а именно - часовой "Dopesmoker"/"Jerusalem" и сырой, холодный и немного по-сладжевому злой дебютник). Ну и как образец "каноничного" по всем статьям альбома - "Sleep's Holy Mountain".
По содержанию материал получился неоднородный: тут и не особо замысловатые "шлягеры по-стоунерски" с примоченным вокалом ("Dragonaut", "Aquarian"), и вариативные, по-стоунерски злые и перетекающие в забойный кач, темы ("Evil Gypsy/Solomon's Theme", "The Druid", "Inside The Sun"), ну и "конкретно" думовые темы с плавно нарастающим по ходу времени накалом вплоть до отвального башкотряса ("Holy Mountain From Beyond"). Вот такой вот контрастный душ получается.
Несколько слов надо замолвить и о характерных элементах звучания: это прежде всего довольно колючий, злой, но "жирный" риффинг и кричащие соло-партии Мэтта Пайка.
В общем, работа, как по мне, лучшая у Sleep (выбор невелик, конечно, но "покушать" есть чего), ясно показывающая, что представляет собой эта группа. |
