 Музыка на пластинке Marshall Law 1992-го года представляет собой материал на стыке таких стилей, как heavy power и power/thrash metal. Инструментальная составляющая заслуживает твердой пятёрки, причем в гитарной работе акцент сделан именно на риффы, нежели на соло-партии. Вокал Энди Пайка напоминает местами то Роба Хэлфорда, то Майка Хоу (вокалист Metal Church в 1989-1993 годах). В целом, хоть и не особо оригинальный, но, сильный, запоминающийся голос. Качество записи и сведения на высоте - каждый инструмент прекрасно слышен, гитары звучат по-трэшевому плотно.
Что касается атмосферы альбома, то она довольно напряжена: музыка держит слушателя от начала и до самого конца пластинки. Marshall Law на этом альбоме - как в музыке, так и в лирике, довольно успешно передали тревожные настроения, царившие в обществе, в том числе и западном, в начале 90-х годов прошлого века.
"Power Games" по звучанию, да и музыкальному материалу тоже, значительно тяжелее своего предшественника – риффы стали более рваными и тяжелыми, хотя мелодичные припевы сохранились, и стали даже более хитовыми. В принципе, в подобном ключе выполнены и две следующие работы группы. Ближайшими аналогами же данной пластинки можно назвать альбомы Metal Church 1989-го ("Blessing in Disguise") и 1991-го ("The Human Factor") годов.
Как уже было сказано выше, почти каждая песня сочетает в себе, казалось бы, такие не очень совместимые вещи как трэшевые риффы и мелодичные хоровые припевы a-la… Def Leppard. По хитовости такие композиции как "Chain of Youth" и "Power Game" вполне могли бы стать MTV-хитами. В то же время, некоторые композиции, например "Another Generation", представляют собой почти стопроцентный thrash metal. Данный альбом Marshall Law должен заинтересовать любителей таких коллективов, как вышеупомянутые Metal Church, а также Helstar, Brainstorm и т.д.. |
