После двухлетнего перерыва Bad Company предъявили публике своё очередное творение – альбом «Desolation Angels». По качеству песен он получился посильнее предыдущего, хотя доля клавишных (в процентном соотношении) увеличилась, а саунд стал ещё более отшлифованным.
Открывающая песня «Rock 'N' Roll Fantasy» (с весомым присутствием синтезаторов), слегка глэмовая «Gone, Gone, Gone» и более традиционная для группы «Oh, Atlanta» (приправленная губной гармошкой) – явные хиты альбома. «Rhythm Machine» и «Evil Wind» - это довольно стандартный, но, тем не менее, энергичный и заводной блюз-хард. Проникновенно звучит медленная «Early in the Morning», почти полностью спетая Роджерсом в нижнем регистре. Симпатична «She Brings Me Love», украшенная мягкими переливами гитары и женским бэк-вокалом. Полуакустические вещи «Crazy Circles» и «Take the Time» - просто приятные середнячки, а вот ударная «Lonely for Your Love» впечатляет вокальной партией, где Пол Роджерс вопит в совершенно несвойственной для себя манере, весьма напоминая Брайана Джонсона из AC/DC! Похоже, это самый агрессивный номер в его карьере.
В итоге, «Desolation Angels», ещё одно «платиновое» детище Bad Company, достиг в американском чарте третьего места и стал предпоследним диском, записанным группой в оригинальном составе. |
