 Этот подарочный мини-альбом был изначально издан тиражом в 1 500 копий и продавался исключительно на концертах группы Iced Earth. Но желание фанатов им обладать было настолько велико, что тираж быстро закончился, превратившись в коллекционную редкость буквально за несколько месяцев. А между тем все больше и больше людей хотели приобрести это издание, и, в результате Century Media выпустили расширенный, не лимитированный тираж этого диска. Что же так привлекло внимание фэнов в этом ЕР? Идея оказалась проста и выигрышна: взять три баллады с последних двух студийных работ, к которым даже злопыхатели группы относятся с уважением и признают, что выразительный и чувственный вокал Мэта Бэрлоу как нельзя лучше подходит к исполнению трогательных и грустных вещей, разбавить их двумя чужими вещами, хорошо известными публике, стильно оформить - и диск готов. Первый кавер – вещь Bad Company "Shooting Star" получилась неплохо, но не более того, а вот кавер Black Sabbath “Electric Funeral” удался на все 100%, сохранив тягучую думовую основу оригинала, одновременно с выразительностью и мощью боевиков Iced Earth. Именно в таком виде “The Melancholy” впервые увидел свет, но, как я сказал выше, перед нами более доступный, расширенный вариант диска, в котором на два трека больше. Несомненно, удавшийся кавер Judas Priest “The Ripper” и непонятно по каким причинам не вошедшая в трех дисковый концертник "Alive In Athens" отличное концертное исполнение “Colors”. (Диск предоставлен компанией Фоно) |

Вышедшая в начале января "ипишка" интересна для фэнов прежде всего своими каверами: "The Ripper" (Judas Priest), "Electric Funeral" (Black Sabbath) и "Shooting Star" (Bad Company)- на моей памяти, это единственный кавер на вещь этой заслужанной хард-рок команды 70-ых! Плюс две вещи с последнего студийного альбома группы: "Watching Over Me" и "The Melancholy... " и композиция с "Cаги" - "I Died For You". Но настоящей изюминкой этого EP является мощнейше-угарнейшая концертная версия "Colours", к сожалению не вошедшая в тройник "Live In Athens". (Из-за нее, главным образом, я и купил этот EP. Кавера у группы получились неплохо, особенно "Shooting Star", хотя ничего нового в прочтении классического материала Шаффер не принес. Всем фанам обязательно, всем остальным - по желанию. |
