 Еще в конце 1998 года музыканты заявили о так называемом «возвращении к корням» и всячески обещали выбомбить крутейший материал пироманийно-истерического содержания. Откровенно говоря, так оно и получилось… хотя и не совсем. Музыка напоминает смесь «Adrenalise» с новым альтернативным течением, которое Деф Леппард сумели переделать под себя, чтобы не потерять оригинальность. Другими словами – просто хороший веселый альбом, без капельки депрессии и грусти. Неожиданно… Опять это двоякое чувство… Так как предыдущий диск мне понравился больше, а этот никак недотягивает до своего старшего брата 92-го года, то смело скажу – Эйфория стала довольно дешевой, хоть и оригинальной альтернативой. Звучание опустилось от классики и неповторимости жанра до совсем попсового, но веселого и припевистого всплеска веселья...
Из вещей больше всего зацепила «Guilty» своим классическим звучанием почти в духе 80-х. Лиричный «Goodbye» заставляет вспомнить всех, кого любил и ненавидел, а вот на «Disintegrate» ребята попытались даже замутить инструментал а-ля «Switch» - получилось хорошо. Следует отметить, что материал на самом деле не слаб, хоть и менее оригинален. Но здесь, как нигде ощущается недостаток покойного Кларка, который бы не позволил группе опуститься до уровня альтернативы со своими чистыми, трушными и техничными соло. Что же касается мелодики, лирики и общей Дэф Леппардовской атмосферы, то она, черт возьми, присутствует. В таких случаях стираются стилистические грани и уже неважно, что и как играет группа, лишь бы она несла ту неповторимую нотку самого себя, что всегда удавалось Леппардам. Вот и в этот раз удалось... Итог – просто хороший альбом с типичной Леппардовой попсовато-дурашливой стилистикой. |
