Avatar is a Romanian underground death metal band. It was formed back in 1994, by Dan Scurtu (guitar) and Marius Popeanga (drums / vocals) as a high-school band. The first demo tape Orgiastic Ceremony was recorded in 1995 was a brutal death metal display. The first full length album, The Alchemist, was released in 1998 in limited edition and it contained 11 death/black metal songs. The band is constantly inovating its sound, and that can be seen on their 2006 release, Tentacles, recorded between the various gigs in the underground metal scene of Europe.
