In 2003 Corey Athos (Ex-Lacerated & Umbriel) gathered Jesse Carlos, Metal Jerry, and Carson Wrath to form the brutal death metal band, Flesh Consumed coming out of Santa Cruz, California. With Corey taking on vocals, Jesse on guitar, Metal Jerry on drums and Carson on bass, they wrote just short of half an album and Flesh Consumed split. Unable to find a new guitarist and drummer, Corey stepped up to handling not only vocals, but guitar, and drum programming as well. In mid 2005 Corey re-formed Flesh Consumed with bassist Curtis Budetti, and soon after were joined by Alex Cortez (Lacerated & Sacrificio) on drums; they immediately started writing for the "Inhuman Butchery" EP. Jeff Russell fused with them on second guitar, and they went into the studio in May of 2006 with Aaron Rauber engineering, mixing, and mastering the project. "Inhuman Butchery" features Corey on vocals/lead guitar, Jeff Russell on guitar, Curtis Budetti on bass, and Alex Cortez on drums.
With the "Inhuman Butchery" EP out Flesh Consumed had a few record labels show interest in working with them on an upcoming album. On of them was Sevared Records, a label from New York. It was their roster of brutal death metal bands and the label founder, Barrett Amiss' honesty, which captivated their interest and convinced them to work with Sevared. They negotiated a contract for a double EP, which was released in late 2006 and a contract for a full length album due out in 2007.
At this point, drummer Alex Cortez, was replaced by Alex Colon (Ex-Dead Syndicate vocalist), and soon after Jeff Russell was out too. With Colon on drums, Corey and he started writing material for the "Fermented Slaughter" EP. Within a short period of time, Curtis Budetti was replaced by Phil Perez (Ex-Convulsion).
Due to legal issues Alex Colon was having at the time, drums for the upcoming EP had to be recorded in early September 2006, two months premature of the set recording date. Aaron Rauber was once again working with FC to put together the "Fermented Slaughter" EP. The rest of the EP was recorded in October featuring Corey on guitars/vocals, Phil Perez on bass, and Alex on drums/backing vocals.
In December of 2006 Flesh Consumed put out the "Fermented Slaughter/Inhuman Butchery" double EP featuring the artwork of P.Timm. The double EP was released world wide and had an amazing response, with hundreds of copies sold in the first week of release. Thanks to Sevared Records' promotion, Century Media as well as other death metal labels helped distribute FC EPs worldwide.
While in the process of recording the EP, Flesh Consumed played a few shows to promote the up and coming release. Soon after, they had the opportunity to play with Devourment, Guttural Secrete, and Artery Eruption for Devourment's very first show in California, introducing FC's newest member, Lenard Atalig (Umbriel) on second guitar.
The day after the show Alex turned himself in to the county jail for impending felony charges. Alex has since been release and Flesh Consumed is currently working on material for the upcoming album entitled "Mutilate, Eviscerate, Decapitate" due out in late 2007. Featuring the cover art of P.Timm, booklet art of Alex Colon, and the engineering, mixing, and mastering of Zack Ohren at Castle Ultimate Studios in Oakland, California.
