Extreme American Melodic Black/ Death Metal well define Seattle’s finest Shaded Enmity. This unique metal band has created a style all of their own. From front man Joe Nurre’s catchy guitar rhythms and screaming melodies to the (Blast Beast) Simon Dorfman’s furious blast beats and double bass drumming. Shaded Enmity is currently noted as one of the best (TRUE/ REAL) American melodic black/death metal bands. With a fan base that starts in Seattle and over the years has spread throughout the world. Shaded Enmity has been busy over the past nine years making music and performing shows for the metal masses.
The band has independently released all of their material, which includes two limited edition EP’s during the years of 2002 and 2003. Tyranny Within and From the Heavens They Fell were pressed at five hundred copies a piece which completely sold out during 2005. They also have recorded and released three full length albums over the last five years, which are, Thought and Remembrance mixed and mastered by Jer Keller, Like Prayers on Deaf Ears mixed by Don Gunn (Death Cab for Cutie, Peter Frampton) and mastered by Troy Spectre (Haste the Day, Becoming The Archetype, Devin Townsend Project), and Hijo Perdido mixed and mastered by Aaron Smith (7 Horns 7 Eyes, Jeff Loomis). In total, these three albums have sold over four thousand copies. The song concepts and topics that the band write about are inspired from dark subjects such as plague, death, suicide, abuse, drug addiction, incest, murder, and religion. These topics are utilized and presented throughout the art work and lyrical content of the bands discography.
After playing extensively throughout the northwest circuit Shaded Enmity has been honored to share the stage with such acts like Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Cattle Decapitation, Nachtmystium, Enslaved, Incantation, Wolves in the Throne Room, Vader, Suffocation, Shadows Fall, The Haunted, Withered, Cephalic Carnage, Drawn and Quartered, In Memorium, Skeleton Witch, Wolven Ancestry, Kreator, Inquisition, Book of Black Earth, Unleashed, Hypocrisy, Ensiferum, Warrel Dane, Sanctuary, Amon Amarth, and many more. Some of the festivals Shaded Enmity has participated in are Death Fest, Seattle Death Fest, Emerald City Death Fest, Blackened Fest, Northwest Death Fest, and Black Circle Fest.
Shaded Enmity has received a positive response from webzines, magazines, and has had several reviews/ interviews regarding the band and its music. Journalists have noted in their reviews that Shaded Enmity holds a likeness to bands such as (early) In Flames, At the Gates, (early) Children of Bodom, Ablaze My Sorrow, Dimension Zero, and Dark Tranquility. With such positive reviews/ support and a great fan base Shaded Enmity has been able to place in some of the European metal charts. This band has never needed to follow trends or sacrifice any integrity/ creativity when composing their music.
