Started out under the name Putrid, playing gore/death-metal. Both their first demo and their first 7” EP where released under this name. In 1992 the band however decided to rename themselves to God Forsaken to better fit the new musical direction they where perusing: doom-metal. After the release of their first studio release 'Dismal Gleams of Desolation' their vocalist Mika started to suffer from hearing problems and could not continue to work with the band. The band finally disbanded in 1995 after many line-up changes.
Musically God Forsaken play death/doom-metal with a slightly groovy edge. Heavy songs and riffing is mixed with more melodic intersections and a slight rock 'n roll feel. The grunts and distorted guitars keep the band within the realm of death/doom metal however. The band made original music that can at times be compared to early My Dying Bride ('As the Flower Withers' era).
