When Greece's death/black metal scene first exploded into action in the early 90's, Horrified were among its earliest and most promising bands. Formed in 1990 by vocalist Gore, guitarist Timos, bassist Kostas and drummer Stelios, the group issued a couple of independently released E.P.'s (‘90's Eternal God and ‘92's The Ancient Whisper of Wisdom) before signing with local Black Power Records.

After extensive touring with the likes of Immortal, Mercyful Fate and Manowar, Horrified re-entered the studio with renowned death metal producer Fredrik Nordstrom (At the Gates, Dark Tranquility, etc.) to record their powerful third album, 2002's Deus Diabolus Inversus. .
