Scandiffio is ex-SHE and teamed up with neighbourhood buddies the Fragnito brothers to record a demo tape funded through her day job at Paramount Pictures in Manhattan. The project soon evolved into a fully fledged band following the recruitment of drummer Steve Werner. Three or four months down the line and BLACKLACE quickly built up a local reputation opening for such acts as MANOWAR, JOE PERRY PROJECT, TALAS and PLASMATICS, earning enough money to fund a more professional demo, 'On The Attack'.
Ecstatic reviews in the European Metal press prompted Belgian label Mausoluem to sign the band, resulting in the 'Unlaced' album, produced by Jeff Waxman. A second effort, ‘Get It While It’s Hot’, surfaced the following year.
After the band split up the Fragnito brothers formed DAMN CHEETAH in 1988 and recorded a number of demos with vocalist Les Brown and ex-ARMED FORCES drummer Dante Renzi. Maryann Scandiffio was still reported to be performing in the Tri-State area in 1998 as part of a band featuring ex ACE FREHLEY'S COMET keyboard player Gordon G.G. Gebert although the later was to join the revamped ANGEL. During 2004 drummer Steve Werner was on the live circuit with THE SLASHTONES.
